Just Peachy

You know the song by The Presidents of the United States of America band that goes, “Millions of peaches, peaches for me…peaches come from a can, they were put there by a man.” Imagine me singing this but the “peaches come from a can” is replaced by “peaches come from a South Carolina peach stand at a gas station.”

You’ve heard of trash TV, but welcome to trash blogging. And I am a pro eater, mediocre chef. I am infamous for closing my arm in an oven once making a take n’ bake pizza.

But alas, here we are. I’m gonna share my signature dish (aka the one thing I can kind of make without hurting myself. YAY!)

Meet Cathy. My muse.

Cathy is the queen of “As Seen on TV” Dump cakes. Dump cakes if you did not know are literally a whole bunch of things you throw in a pan and bake. I cannot take the credit for making this recipe on my own, but what I am presenting to you is a modification of one of her recipes (because I screwed it up the first time around and it ended up okay so here we go).

You will need: a can of peaches. Because I used 7 fresh peaches, and peeling those suckers is hard. It took me 15 minutes to do one, I’m not kidding. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees so you don’t forget and have to wait to do it after the fact.

A 13×9 inch pan! Spray it down with some PAM or cooking oil you got laying around.

Yellow cake mix. Slice the peaches and lay them flat in the pan. Cover it with half a pack of yellow cake mix until the peaches are covered.

Butter! Little square slices all along the top, side by side until the whole thing is covered! Go hard with the butter! Insert a Paula Deen joke here. More butter! We ain’t here for a long time we here for a good time! Plus it’s what’s going to make the “crust” on top of this peach cobbler dump cake thing.

Bake it 35 min. When you pull it out, there may be some spots where the butter didn’t melt so it’s kind of just powdery still- just mix it in when you serve yourself your piece of cake. It’ll be aight.
